CHANEL N°5 perfume bottle design
Who designed the Chanel No 5 bottle?
International design master Mark Rosen described his passion for perfume bottle design as follows: "The world I see is made up of perfume bottles of different shapes." Perfume bottles, like the wonderful liquid they contain, represent identity and status, and are closely related to everyone's taste and lifestyle. It itself is a timeless and culturally rich work of art. In this world of perfume bottles, the bottle of CHANEL N°5 is undoubtedly the simple and eye-catching one.

The rectangular cap of the CHANEL N°5 perfume bottle is cut into an octagonal outline like a diamond. The entire design adheres to Ms. Chanel's consistent principle of "using simplicity to control complexity", and simplicity and purity contain infinite possibilities. At the time when people advocated splendor and prosperity, the simple design of the N°5 perfume bottle looked a bit unconventional. But this kind of simplicity formed a new aesthetic force. Because of this, the modern beauty of the N°5 perfume bottle made it selected as an outstanding contemporary artwork in 1959 and was among the exhibits of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Like Chanel fashion, N˚5 is both modern and classic, and the bottle has undergone subtle changes over the years. When it was first created, the edges of the bottle were rounded; in 1924, the edges of the bottle and the stopper were beveled like a perfectly cut diamond, and the octagonal cap was the only obvious change, just like the geometric outline of the Place Vendôme in Paris.

It is precisely because of the simplicity of the N°5 perfume bottle that it has a stronger plasticity. Many artists, including installation artists, painters, photographers, etc., have used it as inspiration for their creations, while retaining the classic beauty of the bottle, adding their own elements.

Photographer Weegee's early montage work captures his shooting state in the CHANEL N°5 perfume bottle.

From minimalist black and white to colorful colors, from watercolor to sketches to oil paintings, illustrators from all over the world have drawn inspiration from the mixed floral scent of CHANEL N°5 perfume to create a series of wonderful works.

The famous Taiwanese picture book writer Jimmy Liao also incorporated CHANEL N°5 perfume into his unique fantasy world.

The creations of Andy Warhol, a famous pop art master, include a series of celebrity portraits and famous brands. CHANEL N°5 perfume is also his favorite. He can spend an entire night discussing and appreciating this charming fragrance with friends at a dinner party. As a result, the re-creation of the CHANEL N°5 perfume bottle, along with his screen printing works with Marilyn Monroe and Coca-Cola as the theme, became popular all over the world and also became a permanent collection of MoMA.

It is said that there are hundreds of empty perfume bottles in Ms. Chanel's room. She commented on them: "Those bottles are my sweet memories, witnessing my surrender and conquest." After her, every generation of artists has paid tribute to this great "sweet memory" in a unique way.
